- The village of Metzeral, a small village 500 meters above sea level, in the Munster Valley. Metzeral owes its reputation to the mountains that surround it, with their wide band of ridges bordering the Vosges. In the village center, 1 km away, you’ll find a bakery, a convenience store, a pharmacy, a garage and a bank. Small market every Wednesday morning.
- The Vallée de Munster, with its 16 communes, offers a wide range of services, including a medical group, fishing ponds, a supermarket in Munster (9 kms), tourist office, Gérardmer-Munster-Colmar bus lines and TER Colmar-Munster-Metzeral train station.
A private vehicle is recommended for travel in the region. A ” Car Free” holiday is possible by visiting Alsace’s major cities, see our document“Alsace without my car” below.

Arrivals are possible between 3pm and 6pm. Sometimes accommodation is ready as early as 2:00 pm. For arrivals after 6:00 pm, please call us on +33 (0) 3 68 61 25 76, on the day of your arrival (between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm), so that we can open the accommodation for you for the night.
Remember to bring your towels for the SPA pool area, and also to bring consumables (kitchen products and toilet paper) for inside the chalet. A welcome kit will be available in the accommodation for the first twenty-four hours.
Contact us in advance if you would like to add breakfasts or a treatment to your reservation. We also recommend booking the restaurant in advance.
We’re close to Gérardmer and Colmar. Strasbourg is an hour’s drive away. For longer stays, consider Switzerland and Germany, for example Basel, Breisach am Rhein or Freiburg.

Practical information to prepare your stay at Chalets de la Wormsa
Situated in the Wormsa valley in Metzeral, at the foot of the Hohneck massif, in the heart of a listed and protected site, the Chalets de la Wormsa offer an authentic and rejuvenating vacation setting for enjoying Alsace and the Hautes Vosges to the full. Open all year round, the estate comprises 32 wooden chalets for 2 to 6 people, each equipped with kitchenette, bathroom, toilet, heating, terrace and everything you need for a comfortable stay with your partner, family or friends. The location is ideal for nature lovers, hikers and outdoor enthusiasts, with direct access to routes to the surrounding lakes and peaks.
On-site, guests benefit from a heated swimming pool and a complete wellness area including steam room, sauna and Jacuzzi. SPA pool area open all year round. The restaurant offers convivial cuisine, perfect for extending the local experience after a day’s exploring. Free parking , pets allowed under certain conditions (extra charge) and arrivals from 3pm, departures by 10:30am. A security deposit is required on arrival.
At Chalets de la Wormsa, you can enjoy a stay without concrete or asphalt, in a preserved environment where calm, nature and fresh air replace overconstruction. The experience is based on getting back to basics: breathing, reconnecting, walking, slowing down, and taking full advantage of Alsace in a rare natural setting.
