Welcome to the FAQ page for your stay at Camping Chalets de la Wormsa in Metzeral. Here you’ll find answers to the most frequently asked questions about our accommodation, services, conditions and facilities. If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Campsite
Is Les Chalets de la Wormsa a campsite?
Yes, we are a campsite with no tent or caravan pitches. The legal name of our campsite is Parc Résidentiel de Loisirs, a form of camping offering only light leisure accommodation (chalets, bungalows or mobile homes). Chalets in our case! We are classified as a 4-star Parc Résidentiel de Loisirs.
Hiking
Are there any hiking trails in the area around Chalets de la Wormsa?
Yes, there are a number of hiking trails starting from us, and we’re less than a kilometer from the GR5 European long-distance hiking trail.
From here, you can set off on a 30-minute round trip to a wooden bear, accessible by stroller.
With walking shoes, you can hike to Lac du Fischboedlé, a 2h30 hike, and add another 30 minutes to climb to Lac du Schiessrothried.
A 3h30 walk (one way) will take you to the summit, the Hohneck 1363 meters above sea level.
We are the last paved road access to the start of these hikes.
Pool and spa
Are the heated pool and SPA open all year round?
Yes, our heated swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and hammam are open all year round.
Is the pool heated?
Yes, our swimming pool is covered by a dome and heated all year round to 28° degrees.
Is the pool open during the October vacations?
Our swimming pool is open in October.
Is the pool open during the April vacation?
Our swimming pool is open in April.
Do I need to book the SPA in advance?
The SPA area is open all day, from 10am to 7pm. We do not offer reservations or privatization.
Can I use the pool and spa without booking a chalet stay?
If you are not a guest in an accommodation, you can use the swimming pool and SPA area provided you eat in our restaurant during lunchtime service. You will have access to the SPA pool area in the afternoon after your meal.
On the day of departure, do we still have access to the pool and spa area?
You can use the swimming pool and SPA area on the day of your departure.
Do I have access to the pool and spa area before taking the chalet?
You can use the swimming pool and SPA area on the day of arrival, regardless of whether you pick up your chalet at 3:00 pm or not.
Is the pool supervised by a lifeguard?
No, our pool has a maximum depth of 1.40 m and is unsupervised. Parents are responsible for their children’s swimming.
Animals
Are pets allowed?
Pets are welcome in our vacation village and restaurant. If you book a stay in one of our accommodations, you will need to pay the pet supplement of €10 per night.
Is it possible to eat out with a dog?
Yes, dogs are allowed in our restaurant.
Equipment
Is there a chalet with a bedroom on the first floor?
All our chalets have a bedroom on the first floor.
Is there a chalet with several bedrooms on the first floor?
All our chalets have a single bedroom on the first floor. The other bedrooms are upstairs.
Do all chalets have kitchens?
All our accommodation is equipped with a kitchen including hob, fridge, microwave, mini-oven, filter coffee maker and kitchen utensils. Other equipment may be added depending on the type of chalet. Please consult our inventory.
What basic equipment do the chalets have?
All our chalets are equipped with bathroom, WC, shower, washbasin, manual heating, television, pillows, comforters and blankets, as well as clean sheets and towels. Other equipment may be added depending on the type of chalet. Please consult the description of your accommodation.
What type of coffee machine is used in the chalets?
Our accommodations are equipped with filter coffee makers.
Do the chalets have wifi access?
Wifi is not available in the chalets. Our guests come to rest, hike and disconnect.
You’ll have access to free wifi in the common areas at the front of the site: bar, terrace and restaurant.
What are the site's facilities?
Les Chalets de la Wormsa has a number of facilities, access to which is included in your stay: heated swimming pool, SPA area, treatments and massages, bar, restaurant, laundry (washing machine and tumble dryer), wifi room, outdoor games for children, table tennis, table soccer and billiards, bouncy castle in summer, boules pitch, volleyball court, free parking, baby shower room at the entrance to the site.
Are chalets and/or gites equipped with air conditioning or heating?
Our accommodation has electric heating but no air conditioning.
Is it possible to plug in an electric car?
We have 2 classic 3kW 16A sockets, which can be connected at a cost of €15.00 per connection. To plug in, you need to come by and pay during reception opening hours: 8am-12pm and 2pm-6pm.
In the surrounding area, you’ll find fast charging stations in the following towns: Muhlbach-sur-Munster, Munster, Wintzenheim and Colmar.
Does Les Chalets de la Wormsa have parking or garages?
We have a large free parking lot at the front of the site. Some chalets have the option of leaving a car next to the chalet.
We do not have a garage available. The parking lot is not supervised. Motorized vehicles must be left in the large parking lot at the front of the site, including motorized two-wheelers.
Children
Do babies pay for their stay?
Children aged 0 to 2 do not pay for their stay; they stay free of charge.
At what age do children pay for breakfast?
Children aged between 4 and 12 pay a breakfast charge of 8 euros. For children under 4, breakfast is free.
Are there any baby facilities?
We offer a baby kit at 6 euros per night, consisting of a cot, high chair and baby bath. Mattress topper not provided.
Do you offer a babysitting service or a kids' club?
Les Chalets de la Wormsa does not offer babysitting services or a kids’ club. We’re a small, privately-owned establishment with a focus on calm, relaxation and activities close to nature. We do not have an entertainment team.
Opening hours
What are the arrival and departure times for chalets?
For your arrival in our vacation village, please check in at the reception desk from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Departures are possible between 8 a.m. and 10.30 a.m.
When I rent accommodation, can I leave early on the day of departure?
You can leave earlier than 8 a.m., but please ask at reception. Our team will explain the procedure to you.
When I rent accommodation, can I leave later on the day of departure?
It is possible to leave later on your departure day. To do this, you’ll need to book our “late check-out” package, which costs 30% of the nightly rate. In this case, you will be able to leave until 5:00 pm instead of 10:30 am. Your accommodation will not be re-let the following night. This option is subject to availability on the booking schedule.
What are the reception opening hours?
Our reception is open from 8am to 12pm and from 2pm to 6pm. Chalet arrivals are possible from 3pm.
Hosting
Does the accommodation have a private shower, bath or Jacuzzi?
All our accommodations have a bathroom with a shower.
We have only one accommodation with a bathtub, the Gite de la Wormsa (6-person apartment).
None of our chalets or gites have a private Jacuzzi. The only jacuzzi is the one in the pool area, which is shared with other holidaymakers on the site.
Are chalets suitable for families?
Our cottages are ideal for families, and we have several types: 2-person, 4-person, 5-person and 6-person cottages. From 1 to 3 bedrooms.
– The 2-person cottages are designed for a couple (one double bed).
– The 4-person chalets are designed for a family of four with two children or four adults (2 bedrooms with one double bed and two single beds). A cot can be placed on the first floor or upstairs.
– The 5-person chalets are designed for a family of five with three children. Not recommended for four or five adults! (3 bedrooms with two double beds and one single bed). The 5-person chalet is too small for a cot.
– The 6-person chalets are designed for a family of four with four children or six adults (3 bedrooms with two double beds and two single beds). A cot can be placed on the first floor or upstairs.
For families of 7 to 20 people, we offer our Group 10 chalet and additional chalets for other sleeping arrangements. Please contact us for further information.
Is the vacation village suitable for people with reduced mobility?
We have a wheelchair-accessible 4-person chalet (chalet number 29, next to the parking lot). This chalet has a ground-floor bedroom with a 2-person bed and a wheelchair-accessible shower room. Upstairs you’ll find two other beds for able-bodied people. The chalet has a dedicated parking space. It is located close to the swimming pool and restaurant.
This chalet can be booked online on our website under the name “Chalet classique 4 personnes adaptés aux personnes en fauteuil roulant”.
Catering
Does our restaurant offer vegetarian dishes or gluten-free bread?
Our restaurant offers a vegetarian burger, but we don’t have gluten-free bread.
What are the restaurant's opening hours?
Our restaurant is open from 11:45am to 1:30pm and from 6:30pm to 8:15pm.
How do I reserve a table at a restaurant?
You have several options: either visit our website. Or by calling us on 03 89 77 72 90.
Is it possible to leave a restaurant bill on the day of departure?
We don’t have this option in our vacation village.
Are there menus for groups?
We offer several menus for group bookings. Simply consult our “Group menus” document on our website.
Is it possible to privatize the restaurant?
In our vacation village it is not possible to privatize the restaurant. The restaurant must remain accessible to all chalet guests.
Options
Are sheets and towels extra?
When you book a gite or chalet, we provide sheets and towels. Renewal is possible during your stay for stays of more than 7 nights.
Is end-of-stay cleaning included?
End-of-stay cleaning is included. We ask you to clean the kitchen, put the dishes away and dispose of the rubbish. The rest will be done by our teams.
What needs to be cleaned on the day of departure?
On the day of your departure, the kitchen must be clean, the dishes put away, the rubbish disposed of and any dirty sheets returned to reception.
Accessibility
How to get to Metzeral in winter
In winter, the Route des Crêtes (D430) is closed! Directions to Metzeral are: towards Colmar, then towards Munster. Take the A35 and N83 expressways. From the Vosges, take the Col de la Schlucht or the Col du Bonhomme.

Can Les Chalets de la Wormsa be reached by train?
Our vacation village is accessible by train as far as Metzeral, with the station just 1km away. You can also take the Metzeral-Colmar TER train, with its terminus just 1km from us.
Can Les Chalets de la Wormsa be reached by public transport?
By train, the TER Colmar-Metzeral line terminates at Metzeral. By plane, the nearest airport is Basel-Mulhouse.
Are the Wormsa chalets open all year round?
Yes, the Wormsa chalets are open all year round.
How to make a reservation
The quickest and most secure way to book at Les Chalets de la Wormsa is to use the www.alsace-chalets.fr website (credit card and Connect vacation vouchers payments). It is also possible to book by rental contract, booking well in advance.
Is it possible to put an option on a cottage?
On our website it is possible to add a “48h” option. To do this, create a normal reservation and at the time of payment choose “Place an option for 2 days and pay later”.
Is it possible to receive parcels at the chalets?
You can have parcels sent to you in our vacation village. Simply notify reception.
Payment – Terms of sale
How do I pay for my stay?
You can pay by bank transfer, credit card, Connect vacation vouchers or paper vacation vouchers.
Can I pay for my stay with VACAF cheques?
It is not possible to pay with VACAF cheques in our vacation village.
What services are included in our rates?
The rental of our accommodations includes access to your accommodation from 3:00 p.m. on the day of arrival to 10:30 a.m. on the day of departure.
Linen, towels and cleaning services are included. The site’s facilities (heated pool, SPA, children’s playground, volleyball court, boules pitch, etc.) are accessible on the day of arrival and the day of departure.
The SPA pool area is open from 10am to 7pm every day. In July and August, the SPA pool area closes at 8pm. In July and August we also offer a bread delivery service.
Do I have to pay a deposit when I arrive?
A deposit of 250€ is required, either by cheque, cash or credit card.
How do I cancel my stay?
You can cancel your stay online. To do so, use the reservation e-mail sent by the website on the day of your reservation and click on “modify or cancel”. Cancellation charges will be calculated automatically in accordance with the general sales conditions.
How can I change my stay?
You can modify your stay online. To do so, use the reservation e-mail sent by the website on the day of your reservation and click on “modify or cancel”. Cancellation fees for the first stay will be calculated automatically according to the general sales conditions.
What are the cancellation fees?
Cancellation fees depend on the rate chosen and the number of days remaining before arrival. The basic rate allows you to cancel up to 15 days before arrival free of charge. Some special rates allow you to cancel up to 8 days prior to arrival free of charge.
